Meta settles troubling social media addiction lawsuit

Following the lead of the other defendants, including TikTok, Snap, and YouTube, Meta agreed to settle with the plaintiff in order to avoid the uncertainty of a jury trial

Meta may face many similar lawsuits in the future

Meta settled with Plaintiff Breathitt County Schools just weeks before trial was scheduled to start in the adolescent social media addition lawsuit.

Unless they completely rethink and revamp their approach towards making social media 'sticky,' it seems likely that one of these cases will eventually make it to trial. And it seems just as unlikely that the outcome will be favorable to the companies behind social media.
