Where We've Been

Client Success Stories

No two success stories are ever the same. This is especially true when it comes to legal stories and the protection and enforcement of copyrights, trademarks, and business interests. Nonetheless, there are important lessons to be learned from each story we've written and many of those lessons can be applied to your unique situation in a way that benefits you and your business.

We've compiled just a few of the more interesting stories we have helped write and hope they provide some insight into the type of legal work we can do for you.

Care Ambulance

For many years, we handled the protection and enforcement of the trademark portfolio for one of the country's premier ambulance services, Care Ambulance of southern California. Not only did we registered and maintain the company's valuable trademarks, but we also successfully and aggressively enforced the trademark and branding rights against numerous unscrupulous Los Angeles-based competitors hoping to bank on the well-known Care Ambulance brand.

Taqueria De Anda

Who doesn't love delicious Mexican food? We certainly do. And we had the privilege of representing the founder of the popular southern California restaurant chain Taqueria De Anda in a series of lawsuits seeking to protect the brand and the company itself from the unscrupulous actions of one of the founder's family members who tried to wrest control from his own mother. Due to hard work and aggressive action, we were able to not only prevent the hostile takeover, but we even set up the company for expansion and even greater success.

Laguna Woods Village

Anyone who lived in Orange County, California during the second half of the 20th Century is familiar with the Leisure World globe that sat alongside Interstate 5. Oddly enough, the attorneys who originally represented the company that managed the dynamic retirement community failed to secure the trademark rights to the community name, the globe, and other branding elements. This led to very expensive federal court litigation and, eventually, a very favorable settlement that allowed the community to rebrand as Laguna Woods Village. Post-litigation, we handled the legal aspects of the rebranding and secured the trademark rights and registrations that should last the community for many more trouble-free years.

Offroad Racing and
4-Wheel Trucking

We have represented numerous big names in the offroad racing and enthusiast industries, providing them with guidance and legal representation on complicated issues ranging from proper branding to trademark protection and even IP enforcement. Luckily, this is one more area of the law that allows us to combine our weekend interests with our workday focus.

Vintage McDonald's

One of the first cases David worked on involved the oldest remaining original McDonald's restaurant, located in Downey, California. The owners had run into trouble with local signage ordnances and were under threat of being shut down. Thanks to David's creativity and hard work, the location was named a national heritage site and an exemption to the signage restrictions has allowed the restaurant to continue operations and to give patrons a taste of the way things used to be.

Wind Turbine Software

One of the more unusual and extremely difficult cases we handled for a local software developer involved numerous parties, including companies from as close as Irvine, California and as far away as Austria and Germany. It involved technology for improving the efficiencies of massive wind turbines and the case dragged on for many years, eventually involving related lawsuits in Europe, Japan, and even South America.

Airsoft Combat

To the uninitiated, an airsoft 'battle' looks an awfully lot like the real thing. In reality, it's much more similar to paintball than it is to warfare in the real world. And while its fans are legion, the companies that serve the hobby are relatively few and we have represented many of them almost since the beginnings of airsoft in the U.S. Luckily, we also enjoy playing airsoft every chance we can get.
