SCOTUS sides with pirates in copyright decision

Citing sovereign immunity, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of North Carolina and against videographer Frederick Allen who claimed the state had violated his registered copyrights when it published online some of the photos and videos he had created documenting the recovery of salvage from the wreck of pirate captain Blackbeard’s ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge.
